Beef Stroganoff with Creamy Mushroom Sauce
A classic comfort dish featuring tender beef, a creamy mushroom sauce, and your choice of egg noodles or rice. Perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal!
Ingredients
For the Beef:
1 lb beef tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste


For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sour cream
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
For Serving:
Cooked egg noodles or rice
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
Season the beef pieces with salt and pepper.
Dredge the beef in flour, shaking off any excess.


Step 2: Cook the Beef
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook the beef in batches until browned on all sides.
Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.


Step 3: Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, heavy cream, and sour cream.
Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened.


Step 4: Add Mushrooms and Seasonings
Add the sliced mushrooms and onion to the sauce.
Cook for 5–7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender.
Stir in the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.


Step 5: Combine Beef and Sauce
Return the cooked beef to the sauce.
Simmer for 5 minutes, or until heated through.
Step 6: Serve
Serve hot over egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley.
