Cheesy Garlic Focaccia Bread

Cheesy Garlic Focaccia Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or a cheese blend)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2: Mix and Knead the Dough
Add flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 3: Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 4: Shape the Focaccia
Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Use your fingers to stretch and flatten the dough into a rectangle or circle. Drizzle with olive oil and use your fingers to make small indentations all over the surface of the dough.

Step 5: Add the Toppings
Sprinkle the minced garlic, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, and dried oregano evenly over the dough.

Step 6: Bake
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Step 7: Garnish and Serve
Remove the focaccia from the oven, drizzle with more olive oil, and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
